Carolyn A. Bates

Carolyn A. Bates, 81, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 in the Ohio Masonic Home, Springfield, where she had resided the past seven years. She was born December 24, 1935 in Compton, NH the daughter of Theodore and Helen (Guptill) Poelman. Carolyn lived in Cleveland from 1984 until 2010 and worked at Bob Evans. She is survived by five daughters Judy Glaub of Dayton, Barb (Tom) Wipert of Winchester, KY, Cyndi Johnson and Deb (Allen) Reif of Springfield, and Joli (Dave) Gracon of Cleveland; brother James (Elaine) Poelman; sister Miriam Willand; nine grandchildren Justin and Jonathon Glaub, Bradley and Kyle Wipert, Michael, Jr. and Cassaundra Johnson, Stephan and Carolyn Reif, and Cory Kaushakis; great grandson Michael Johnson III; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by eight siblings. Visitation will be Sunday from 3-5 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Services will be Sunday at 5:00 PM with Pastor Jason Carrier officiating. The family would like to extend their thanks to Pathways at the Ohio Masonic Home and to Ohio’s Community/Mercy Hospice for their care of Carolyn in her final journey.
