Barton W. Gessaman

Barton W. Gessaman 72, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 21, 2023.

He was born September 15, 1950 in Troy, to the late Roger and Marjorie (Staup) Gessaman.

Bart was a 1969 graduate of Bethel High School and went on to General Motors Institute. He spent 38 years working at General Motors, spending time as a manager of parts distribution, inventory floor supervisor, facilitator for the new SAP program and finishing in the finance department before retiring. Never one to sit still, he continued his father's business of excavation and construction. He served faithfully in church for over 40 years, and enjoyed lately being a part of teaching his small group twice a month on Sunday mornings.

he was a hardworking, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and friend. He had a heart for serving the Lord and serving others, and a special gift for making those around him feel valued. He enjoyed working on his farm up until the day he took his last breath.

Bart is survived by his wife Leslie; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kaci Gessaman of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Christa Gessaman of Pocatello, Idaho; and grandson Joshua Gessaman. He is also survived by sister, Susan Gessaman of Troy; sister and brother-in-law Eileen and David Heffner of Troy; as well as nieces residing in Columbus, Katy (Michael) Timpe, and Mindy Heffner (Jordan Wright, Fiance)

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 29, 4-8 PM and a celebration of Bart's life will be held at 10 AM Friday, June 30, 2023 at Trostel, Chapman, Dunbar & Fraley Funeral Home in New Carlisle. David Starry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel West Cemetery in Phoneton, located just south of Rt. 40 and Rt. 202. Memorial contributions may be made to Ark Encounter PO Box 510, Hebron, KY 41048;  Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201 or First Light Church 140 Elva Court, Vandalia, OH 45377.
