Barbara Jean Ray

Ray, Barbara J, age 87 of Springfield, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2022.  She was born on September 16, 1934, in South Charleston, Ohio.  She was born the daughter of the late Orin and Margaret (Parker) Slagle.  Barbara retired in 1999 after 25 years of working in the administrative offices in various school districts.  She graduated from South Charleston High School in 1952.  Barbara is preceded in death by her loving husband Larry Ray, in laws Harold and Margaret Ray; brother Orin Slagle Jr, sisters; Freida Hazlett, Mary Dillon, Nellie Ray, Caroline Wilder, Judith Slagle; nephew Bill Young and niece Janna Brown.  She is survived by 3 children; Steve (Deborah) Ray, Diana Hazelton (Sherman Draper), Elaine (Tom) Haley; 7 Grandchildren; Gabriel (Jennifer)  Hazelton, Clint (Robin) Hensley, Bryce (Britney) Hensley, Cody (Mattie) Hensley, Amy Ray (Jason Wright), Kyle Ray (Brooke Miller), Mandy Ray; 12 Great Grandchildren; Zachary Hazelton (Annie Justice), Makayla Hazelton, Wesley Hazelton, Preston Hensley, Lleyton Hensley, Reese Hensley, Colton Hensley, Thomas Hensley, Philip Hensley, Alex Herron, Merri Grace Risteff and Russ Risteff; sisters; Jo Ann Young of Springfield and Ruth Slagle of Maine and sister and brother in – law Alice (Dick) Moore of South Charleston and many nieces and nephews.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.  She will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved her.  She enjoyed camping, boating, and spending time with her family and friends.  She loved watching the Buckeyes and Bengals.  There will be no visitation services at the request of the family.  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, at 11:30AM at Greenlawn Cemetery, South Charleston with Pastor Cody Hensley,  grandson, officiating.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease at donate.brightfocus.org.  Online expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com
