Alma Faye Marshall

December 16, 1932 — January 18, 2023

Alma Faye Marshall passed away peacefully in New Carlisle Ohio on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.  Her mind and body were tired after 90 wonderful years of life.  She was ready to go to her heavenly home.  Alma was born in 1932 in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the coal-mining town of Blue Diamond, Kentucky.  Her father, Dewey Collins managed the coal-mine’s company store and her mother Meda, was a homemaker and mother to five children.   Alma graduated from Carr Creek High School, whose basket ball team she cheered on to a state championship.  She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Helen, Lawrence, Leo and Nancy.  Alma married the love of her life, Ace and had four children who loved her dearly, Debbie, Steve (his wife Cathy and their children Emily and Sarah), Becky (her husband Will and their children Max and Ali) and Philip (his children Madi and Kacie).  Ace passed in 1979 and Alma spent the remainder of her days looking forward to the day when they would be together again in their heavenly home.   Alma loved gardening especially her pink impatiens and Boston ferns each summer.  She loved baking and made the best coconut pound cake and pecan pie, not to mention her peanut butter fudge.  She loved listening to Neal Diamond and singing old-fashioned hymns from her church quartet days…”Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound”.  She had a soft spot for strays and loved her dogs and cats over the years. She loved the color yellow, thrift shopping and collecting treasures.  She loved biscuits and gravy, Hershey bars and butterfingers.  And most of all, she loved her six grandchildren Emily, Sarah, Madi, Kacie, Max and Ali and six great grandchildren Deacon, Scout, Devin, Camryn, Rilynn and Haidyn.  Her parting words, each time she hung up the phone, were always “kiss my babies”.   Please join her family in a time of celebration of her life, Tuesday, January 24 th between 1:00 and 3:00 at Richards, Raff and Dunbar Memorial Home 838 East High Street, Springfield Ohio 45505.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio’s Hospice at ohioshospice.org.
