News Death Notice
BLACK, Alfred A. 85, of New Carlisle passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was born April 16, 1930 in Rowan County, KY, the son of Mitchell and Lissie (Howard) Black. Alfred was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the GM DELCO plant in Dayton. He was a 50 year member of Red Star #205, a former trustee of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Animal Welfare League. Alfred enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes and sweet potatoes. He also enjoyed boating, fishing and some of his best memories were family camping trips with his four boys and later traveling with his wife. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons Keven R. and Steven A. Black; siblings Lemuel Black, Hazel Kidd, Berlin Black, Barbara Jones, Ottis Black, Clona Flanery, Traxie Calim, Eula Flanery, Roy Black and Ernest Black. Alfred is survived by his wife of 64 years Ellen Irene (Futrell) Black; sons Stuart E. Black of Monterrey, Mexico and Alfred A. Black, Jr. of Springfield; a sister Lillian Kidd of Morehead, KY; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services to honor Alfred will be Monday at 1:30 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to the start of services.
