Anne Guyton Dunbar
Co-Owner, Public Relations Director
Anne Dunbar owns and operates the funeral homes along with her husband, Rick. The daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Donald H. Guyton (Dr. Guyton is now deceased), Anne grew up in Springfield with her sister Debbye, and brothers Chris and Don. After graduating from Springfield North High School, Anne went on to receive certification in business computer systems operations and programming applications from the Burroughs Institute, and then studied art at Miami University. Recently, Anne decided to return to college, and is currently a student at the University of Phoenix, where she is majoring in business and marketing.
Married to Rick since 1977, the Dunbar ’s do not have children of their own, but are very close with their entire family, especially their 13 nieces and nephews. Rounding out their family is Sophie, an energetic Weimaraner.
Anne is a life-long member of Christ Episcopal Church, Young Woman’s Mission , Springfield Museum of Art, GODA Club, Springfield Country Club, Clark County Historical Society, and is a founding member of the National Road Corvette Club. Along with Rick, she is a member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, an invitation-only honorary organization for those in independently owned funeral service. In any spare time, Anne enjoys reading, painting, dancing, and every type of music.
Before Rick asked her to join the funeral home staff, Anne worked as a cost accountant in the retail grocery industry, was the regional manager of computer and information systems for an automobile manufacturer, and worked in a programming co-operative. “However, nothing is more satisfying than working in the funeral homes…as with most people who work in a small business, one has to “wear a number of hats,” so to speak, so I perform a variety of tasks, including accounting, public relations, advertising, computer systems management, purchasing, and assisting with our grief support groups. In addition, I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful staff – everyone on our staff works hard to go above and beyond in order to give each family we serve the highest level of care – before, during, and long after the service is over. We sincerely care about the families we serve.” |
